Custom Family Signs: A Fun Challenge
A friend recently asked if I could create two family signs as Christmas gifts. As someone who loves a challenge, my immediate response was, “Of course I can!” With no specific style direction—just the family name to work with—I got to work.
I researched family monograms and designed a look I felt my friend would love. The final product was a 10″ circular monogram, a perfect size that wasn’t too large or too small. To make the engraving stand out, I hand-painted it with black acrylic paint and sealed the entire piece with a clear coat for a polished finish.
When I delivered the signs, my friend was thrilled with the result, which made the effort all the more rewarding. This project also inspired me to start designing a custom door hanger for our own family home.
