Collaboration

col·lab·o·ra·tion the action of working with someone to produce or create something.

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with my neighbor and fellow crafter, Jordan from Copper Curls. She was commissioned to create heart-shaped tabletop décor for a local restaurant. The owners had seen her work on display and asked if she could design something special for each table.

Jordan crafted a beautiful design and was looking for a way to incorporate the restaurant’s logo, just as they had requested. She reached out to me to see what I could create using the laser. After a few rounds of brainstorming, we decided to use reclaimed wood salvaged from an old barn. The boards had a soft gray patina, and when I engraved the logo, it really popped against the weathered texture. We had a winner — and the restaurant loved it! They ordered fifty pieces.

In a world where everything is click, ship, and get it fast, there’s something truly special about handcrafted, made-with-love products. We definitely don’t get rich doing what we do, but our hearts are full.

I was thrilled to help Jordan add a touch of laser magic to her creation. Collaborating with other creative, craft-minded people always brings out the best in both the process and the final product. Working together reminds me that creativity shared is creativity multiplied.
