It’s that time of year again. For me, that means our boat is out of the water, back home, and getting its winter service. Our season was decent—mother nature threw a few curves our way that we’ll keep in mind for the future—but overall, we had a successful season and much to be thankful for.
With the rods now in storage, I’ve got more time to dive into laser crafting. I’ve been experimenting with new designs and then putting them to the test—by firing up the laser! So far, I’ve made Fall signs, Halloween pumpkins and spiders, tumblers, and even children’s paint crafts.
As a grandfather with little ones ranging from ages 2 to 7, I get to design, cut, and paint crafts with them in real time. Watching their smiles of accomplishment fills my heart, and it’s an area I’d like to explore further.
One lesson I’ve learned: children’s paints must be safe and washable. I hadn’t thought of that until my first trial run, but it makes perfect sense. I’ve now stocked up on 14 one-liter bottles of vivid colors, each with a pump for easy filling into little cups. And of course, I keep my own acrylic paints handy for my projects.
You’ll see some photos of my grandchildren working on Grandpa’s crafts, but what you won’t see is how full my heart is in those moments. This journey continues to teach, inspire, and encourage me to keep moving forward—and I love it.
